Fatal Fire in Cecil County Claims Life

CECIL COUNTY (April 16, 2025) - Deputy State Fire Marshals continue to investigate the cause of a late-night fire that claimed the life of an Earleville resident.

On April 16, 2025, thirty firefighters from the Cecilton Volunteer Fire Company and neighboring fire departments were called to 2 Kent Road in Earleville at 10:10 PM for a structure fire. Upon their arrival, they observed a fire in a mobile home.

The fire remained at one alarm, but a tanker task force was alerted to help control the blaze. Firefighters were able to control the fire in 30 minutes but did discover human remains during the suppression of the fire.

Deputy State Fire Marshals have determined the fire originated inside the mobile home, but the cause remains under investigation. Damages to the structure and its contents are estimated to be $150,000.00. It is undetermined if smoke alarms were present within the home.

The human remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the cause of death and identification
